ABOUT ME
Hi, I’m Amanda Gordon. I work with people who feel stuck, struggling to articulate how they feel, or weighed down by life’s challenges — and help them find clarity and a way forward. At A Question of Life Counselling, I support children, teenagers, and adults with real conversations and practical steps that create change.
With 15+ years of experience in counselling, teaching, mentoring, and welfare, I cut through the noise and help you put the pieces together so you can move forward with confidence.
My Counselling Philosophy
My practice is person-centred, grounded in honesty and real connection. I don’t believe in cookie-cutter therapy. Each session is tailored to you, focusing on practical steps that bring real change and drawing on evidence-based approaches like CBT, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and mindfulness-informed practices
I show up as a person first, not just a professional. By being authentic and present, I help you reconnect with yourself and build on your strengths in a safe and supportive space. Helping you to drop the weight you’ve been carrying and start moving forward.
My goal is simple: to help you cut through the noise, find clarity, and create lasting change — so you can stop feeling stuck and start living with more direction and ease.
Experience with Children and Adolescents
I help children and teenagers manage friendships, school stress, anxiety, and self-esteem in ways that feel real and relatable. My sessions aren’t just about talking — I use creative, hands-on approaches that make it easier for young people to open up, feel understood, and build confidence. With a background in both education and counselling, I bring 15+ years experience, flexibility, and fresh ideas to support each child or adolescent in their own unique way.

BEYOND THE THERAPY ROOM
When I’m not working, I find joy in creative and grounding activities that help me stay connected to myself and the world around me. I enjoy peaceful walks in the park with my dog, Beattie, and gardening. It is these quiet moments in nature that help me unwind and reflect. Yoga is a regular part of my routine, offering balance, mindfulness, and a deeper connection between body and mind.
I’m also passionate about art and craft; painting expressive landscapes and creating handmade pieces bring me a sense of calm and inspiration and I love the meditative rhythm of shaping something from raw materials. These hobbies nourish my own wellbeing and reflect the values I bring into my counselling work: presence, creativity, connection, and balance.
